The Alternative Guarded Tool Rest replaces your lathe's toolrest. It is smaller and is toused for a mini lathe with the Clark Deep Hollowing System and a Fulcrum Support Tube.. Its purpose it to keep the hollowing bar from falling down but is only a convenience since you can use the standard toolrest that is supplied with your lathe. It necessary to have one of these to mount the Fulcrum Support Tube. IF you are not using a Fulcrum Support Tube with a mini lathe (12" swing), then the standard Guarded Tool Rest or the lathe's tool rest will suffice.
